Event Marketing: Michael P. Nosco Foundation

Non-profit event marketing is a labor of love!  How do we know?  We have over 20 years of experience, and from our first Mike Nosco Memorial Bicycle Ride, we knew this one was special!  And, we knew we wanted to do more to support their fundraising efforts.

Who is Mike Nosco?  Mike is a 20-year Navy veteran who died tragically in a traffic accident in Camarillo, CA on his way home from work on November 3, 2004.  He was due to depart for Iraq to serve his 3rd tour as a part of the elite Firehawks Helicopter unit.  Shortly after this devastating news reach his family, Mike’s brother Jack Nosco rode the 80-mile grueling route that is now the Nosco Ride.

Eventually, Jack decided to turn November 3rd around.  And, to give back to his local community the way Mike would have.  He gathered friends, asked for donations, and together they rode the Nosco route in support of a local 13-year old boy, Andreas Knickman, who was diagnosed with metastatic osteosarcoma (bone cancer).

During the first 2 years of the Nosco Ride, all funds raised went to support the Knickman family.  Now the event draws hundreds of riders from around the world!  And, through generous donations, the Michael P. Nosco Foundation can now offer grants to even more families that are faced with a life-threatening illness.

We look forward to November 3rd each year to gather with the best of the cycling community.  So when Jack reached out for help building a new website to support the Michael P. Nosco Foundation, we said YES!

After years working on event marketing and with non-profit fundraising campaigns, we know there’s typically a small, dedicated team of people that handle everything.  Whether that’s with event planning, fundraising, website updates, email marketing, or social media.

This holds true for the Michael P. Nosco Foundation.  So, we knew we could help Jack and the Foundation’s Board of Directors by creating a new website to better support their event marketing challenges.  Here’s a few of the website build goals we’ve tackled:

  • Easier for internal staff to maintain and make updates
  • More streamlined for users to navigate
  • Allow donors to make a gift or register for an event in just a few clicks through an integration with Classy.org
  • Create something simple, yet beautiful to better tell Mike’s story and showcase how the foundation is making a difference.

Got a favorite non-profit that needs help with event marketing and fundraising?  Drop us a line, and lets see how we might work together.  And stay tuned as we get ready to launch the new Nosco website later this summer!

Services performed on this project

I have had the privilege of knowing Meredith McConvill through cycling and when it was time to update our website, she, her husband Tyler, and their company, Top Rope Media was a natural choice for us. Meredith has participated in the Mike Nosco Memorial Bicycle Ride over the years and knew what it would take to bring our site up to the next level. We are excited to have this partnership with them, their professional insights, amazing ability to meet and exceed deadlines and how they present has been an excellent experience and we are confident those that use our website will feel the same!

I’ve had the privilege of working with Meredith and Tyler at Top Rope Media in a number of capacities.  From running social media at a multi-day event I host, to managing and building out the new Mike Nosco Foundation website. 10/10 highly recommend. I continue to be impressed with the professionalism, quality of work, and that we have fun in the process!
